How Common is an Oral Yeast Infection?

When talking about an oral yeast infection, the common name is thrush. However they will commonly occur in children, men, women, adults with uncontrolled diabetes and people on medications. Men suffering with HIV or penile yeast infection are the ones who will commonly get the infection. One thing that is different unlike women, men are really not bothered about the symptoms of fungal and yeast infections, on the other hand it is very important for the man to keep these infections under control.

Thrush is marked by white patches. Under the white patches there is the red base, this is one of the most painful conditions caused by yeast. The name of the fungus that it is cause by would be Candida Albicans. The infection in adults can usually relate to not taking care of oral hygiene. Also too much tobacco chewing and smoking can cause oral thrush.

Other symptoms of thrush can include whitish sores in the mouth that look like cottage cheese. The sores can also develop in the inner cheeks, on the tongue, gums, throat, and tonsils.
There are 2 forms of oral infection that you should be aware of, Angular Cheilitis and Moniliasis.
Angular Cheilitis is a very painful condition that results in a red rash and cuts, almost like paper cuts, at the corners of the mouth. When they are found in the corners of the mouth it can look like a general cold sore so it may be difficult to distinguish between the two. These tiny lesions become infested with fungal bacteria, perpetuating the condition.

Moniliasis is frequently known as thrush, and is a common yeast infection of the throat and mouth. The way this is transmitted comes from ingestion of the causative organism in infected feed, water or environment.
If you have dentures they will need to be repair or replaced. The symptoms from a person who wears dentures are white spots on the tongue and mouth also redness in the gums. There is a treatment consist of using an anti-fungal mouthwash or lozenges for about 10 days. Doctors may recommend consuming probiotics to restore the mouth's healthy balance of bacteria to yeast.

When you talk about oral yeast infection there are a lot of materials out there that you can read in order to prevent the infection from reoccurring. Also the people who have experienced this first hand, found procedures that are safe and proven to be very effective.
