Learn How to Alkalize Your Body For Good Health!

To determine acid alkaline balance we are confronted by the strange term pH levels. pH stands for "Potential Hydrogen". It is all about hydrogen ion concentrations. When the level is increased the substance becomes more alkaline and when it decreases, more acidic. The range runs from 0-14. A reading of 7 which is supposed to correspond to water is neutral. Sadly not all water has a pH of 7, but that is another story!

The Human blood is slightly alkaline with a pH reading of between 7.35 and 7.45. Proteins in the diet break down to make strong acids. These include uric, sulphuric, phosphoric and nitric acid. Weak acids like citric acids have a different affect on the human body. Lemon juice is composed of citric acid. Lemons grow on trees and undergo a photosynthesis process. This means the lemon tree absorbs minerals from the earth and transports them to the fruit. The lemon juice breaks down to make carbonic acid which again breaks down to form carbon dioxide and water which are easily excreted from the kidneys. However, the minerals stay and these alkalize the system thus increasing the pH level of blood, urine and saliva. Drinking water does not always provide an alkaline medium. Often municipal supplies are treated sewerage which lack the minerals to reach the desired level of alkalinity or it is bottled water. Water is put in plastic bottles, which break down leaching phtlates into the liquid and making it unnecessarily acid. Phthalates are estrogen mimics and are often confused with PCBs. PCBs (PolyChlorinated Biphenyls). These were considered carcinogenic and supposedly banned in the 1970s. To overcome the problem of over acidic water, it always a good idea to add a slice of lemon or lime in order to alkalize it!

The problem is most people are overly acidic. One reason for this is excessive protein intake. These animal related proteins form strong acids and they steal minerals from the body as the acids need to be buffered to safely pass through the kidneys without damaging them. Sulphuric acid, for instance combines with calcium to complete the buffering process. The calcium comes from the bones, and so we see excessive acidity robs the body of these important minerals which have repercussions later in life. As a result the bones weaken and we encounter deficiency diseases like osteoporosis and consider it part of the aging process when in fact the problem is dietary. By the same token, as people age it seems they they shrink in stature. This happens as the acids in the body leach out vital minerals, unless of course the person realizes the hazard and focuses on eating foods that maintain the alkaline balance.

The dangers do not rest simply with an excess of animal products in the diet. Sugar, simple carbohydrates and saturated fats have the same affect. White sugar is not a food at all. In the refining process all goodness has been stripped from the long chains of glucose and the result is that the sugar in this form is difficult to absorb. These are alkaline foods but as the system cannot break them down effectively the digestion is interrupted and this leaves them in the intermediate acid state and not the desired alkaline one! The same thing applies to wheat and grains. It seems that gluten and some of the preservatives added to white flour make it very difficult to digest, so once more the conversion process does not complete itself and you are left with an acid forming food.

As they body becomes more and more stripped of minerals, it becomes more and more acid and reaches a stage where it simply can no longer heal itself! In this overly acid state it can no longer absorb the minerals and vitamins necessary to reverse its overacidity. At this point serious health issues come to make themselves apparent. The lowered pH creates hormone imbalances, cardiovascular discrepancy, weight gain and sometimes weight loss, bladder and kidney problems immune deficiencies, a buildup of free radicals that cause cellular destruction, a stressed liver, poor digestion, Candida and yeast infections as well as cancers and tumors. To put it bluntly an overly acidic system is a principal cause of disease. However, a low pH can be increased and the health hazards of over acidity reversed.

Cancer is on the rise and it seems 1 in 3 people are now plagued by this life threatening illness. All cancer patients are far too acid and they also lack oxygenation. This is one reason why a sensible exercise routine is so important. In the absence of oxygen, sugar ferments into lactic acid which intensifies the quandary.

So how do we reverse an overly high level of acidity in the body? A good idea would be to buy a digital pH meter. They are easily available from Garden Centers and aquarium suppliers and they are relatively cheap. You need to monitor urine and saliva levels. During the night your body goes through a breaking down, catabolic process. Acids from the previous day decompose; then they are stored in the bladder. The urine voided first thing in the morning is always acidic. Your pH meter will demonstrate this to you. However, as we move out of the catabolic cycle just before midday, the urine will start alkalizing. It should be giving a reading close to 7 at 2pm. If it is substantially below 6.8 you are too acid and need to take steps to reverse the issue.

Make sure that you eat a diet that comprises 80% fresh vegetables and only 20% protein. This is in inverse proportion to the regular diet. Make certain you eat at least five servings of fruit and vegetables per day. Cut out sugar and acid forming foods like fried potatoes and pasta. Stop buying things in packets, add lemon to your water and begin to work on those negative emotions that are poisoning your system. Learn about cosmetics and stop covering yourself in toxic petroleum products which are all far too acid. Stop cleaning your teeth with regular toothpaste, and use sea salt instead. By all means take a mineral supplement, but be sure the minerals themselves come from an organic source. This means they come via a pesticide free vegetable source. The body simply cannot absorb minerals from an inorganic source. Unfortunately you might have to forego some of the "goodies" in life. Coffee and alcohol are both powerful acid forming agents as are cigarettes. We do really have to ask ourselves the question, "what price do you pay for good health?"
Use your pH meter to monitor your progress and make changes so that your urine has a pH of above 6.8 come 2 o'clock in the afternoon. It will take a little effort, but you will feel substantially better when you discover a diet that puts your pH in the alkaline side of the equation and you come to realize good health is really priceless!.

Getting a Six Pack by Running There?

Getting a six pack can be difficult, but it doesn't have to be confusing. With a clear plan and a lot of simple hard work, getting your six pack can even be enjoyable.
One of the primary components of getting a six pack is dropping the fat on your abs. This will allow your strong abdominal muscles to show out onto the world.
So...

Why Run?
Running is simple. Virtually everybody can do it. And all you need are a good pair of athletic shoes and your workout clothes.
And running can be done virtually anywhere. Why not run?

How To Run
Many people believe that you need to run tons of hours a day on the treadmill or outside to drop fat. Jogging, jogging, jogging till the cows come home.
However, if you take that route you'll end of looking like most marathon runners look - with the sort of skinny-fat appearance. Skinny bodies, but with a little fat still there and undefined muscles hanging on their frames.
Humans, and all animals for that manner, are meant to move quickly in short bursts of motion and then slow down. This steady-state running is simply unnatural.

Instead, try sprinting in short intervals. By sprinting you push yourself to the limits of your ability, tire yourself, burn calories quickly, and then take a short rest.

An example of this would be 30-60 seconds of sprinting, followed by 30 seconds of walking to rest. This will force you to work harder, and take much less time to do your workout (10 to 20 minutes) than normal.

How Often?
In the beginning, doing interval sprint training 2-3 times a week is an excellent goal. This will help you lose weight, and get you accustomed to working out regularly.
Also, getting a six pack requires some time and dedication. Starting slow will keep you from getting inured in the first few weeks of your effort, so you have the greatest opportunity of reaching your goal.

What Do I Need To Do Besides Running?
Getting a six pack is not just about running, unfortunately. You need to do ab exercises to build up your abdominals and eat the right amounts of food to make sure to lose weight.
Also, you need to include weight training if you want to make the rest of your body ripped along with your abs. And taking this approach burns more calories and helps you get to your six pack faster.
Running is an essential component, but not the whole show. So, how do you work it all together into a plan for getting six pack abs?

How Sleeping Incorrectly Can Contribute to Hair Breakage

Imagine this...you wake up in the morning, make your way to the mirror and start brushing (or combing) your hair only to find that there is enough hair in your brush and sink to make you extremely nervous.

It is not uncommon to lose a couple of strands on a daily basis (throughout the day) but anything excessive (more than 200 strands) and very noticeable, can mean major trouble!

Breakage can occur for a variety of different reasons, but one reason that you may have never heard of, deals with (of all things) how you sleep.

Because the majority of people toss and turn while they sleep, going to bed in rollers or ponytails is a huge no, no!
Try not to put your hair into a ponytail before you prepare to go to sleep, because ponytails tend to put too much stress on the hair, and the elastic (or rubber) bands cause breakage when putting them in and taking them out.

I know that sometimes women put their hair in ponytails as a matter of convince before they go to bed, and some women sleep in rollers so that they won't have to curl their hair in the morning, but the tension that is placed on the hair, combined with the tossing and turning, leaves you paying the ultimate price, hair breakage!
Tossing and turning during sleep with a ponytail or rollers in your hair creates additional pulling and damage to the hair.

If your hair tangles, gets matted, or breaks when you sleep, wrapping your hair in a silk or satin scarf at night, or sleeping on a satin pillowcase will help prevent these problems.

Make sure you aren't using a cotton scarf to wrap your hair, because cotton has a tendency to grab and pull hair (causing those hairs to break). If you have had any chemical service preformed (relaxers, highlights, perms) or if you have naturally dry hair or your hair is prone to breakage, I highly recommend sleeping on satin pillows, and using silk and satin scarves to wrap your hair in at night.

Top Summer Beauty Tips

When hot temperature is on the air and the warmth of your room is too hard to bear despite the whir of the air cooling system at your home, then you better decide to pack up and go outdoors because it's summertime. It is time to relax, unwind and rejuvenate your worn out energy.

But before you go and enjoy the hot, lazy days of summer don't forget to bring with you the necessary items that will give you enough protection from the scorching heat of the sun and some additional accents to make you look and feel good. Take with you some summer beauty tips too so as not to get caught blank in tight situations.
  • Since you will be outdoors most of the time, apply a very spare make up. Less is best, so to speak. Brush on a light shimmering powder on your face to give accent to your glowing skin. Don't use foundation even how light and water based it is. You won't look good when it starts to melt under the sun. If you are the kind who can't live without mascara use the waterproof kind.
  • Too much outdoor heat may end you up with dry and cracked lips. Pick a lipstick with a shade that will enhance your skin tone. Choose a creamy lipstick formula. It will give you an ultra shine look and at the same time it serves as protection from lip cracking.
  • Use sunscreen liberally. Protect your skin with a minimum SPF 15 and apply it 15 to 30 minutes before going out. If you tend to overstay outside follow up the application from time to time. While under the sun, fill a misting bottle with cold water mixed with a little toner. Spray it on your face and the rest of the exposed body every now and then. This will boost up your skin and provides a cooling effect to your body as well.
  • Pick trendy accessories that can accentuate your whole get up but will serve as protection too. A hat with a broad brim is ideal to cover or shade your face and neck from the sun. Match it with designer sunglasses. Be vigilant in protecting your skin from premature skin aging.
  • If you love lengthy swims leave a little amount of conditioner on your hair before putting on your swim cap. This will minimize hair damages from chlorine and salt water.
  • Keep hydrated always. Drink lots of water every now and then. Don't wait heatstroke or sunstroke to get you.
Summer spells a great time for recreation, relaxation and an enjoyable time with family and friends. Enjoy what the season offers but keep in mind that these beauty tips are essential to enjoy the summer more.

Powerful Teeth Whitening At Home the Easy Way

Home teeth whitening is a convenient easy method to have strong gleaming smile. People tend to spend too much on dental products just to achieve perfect presentation. But what you do not realize is that you can keep your pearly whites bright, without spending too much. There are products in your own household that can be very helpful. You just have to be very resourceful in finding them.

Here are a few things you could use for natural whitening. Baking soda has many uses around your home. Apart from using it as a leavening for baking, this product is also commonly used for natural whitening. Baking soda contains alkaline which gives it a salty taste. It works to neutralize the acids that make the teeth yellow. It is a natural deodorizer too and its grainy texture helps scrub excess dirt from the the surface.

Using hydrogen peroxide is also a good solution because it does not cost too much and is easy to find. It is a weak acid which makes it a good bleaching agent. However, if you have sensitive gum condition such as gingivitis, leaving hydrogen peroxide in the teeth for extended periods of time might cause a burning sensation on the gums.

Most people are not aware that wood ash contains potassium hydroxide, a compound that is good for bleaching. It removes the plaque, making a good home natural whitening product. You can apply it directly on or mix it with your toothpaste.

Strawberries have a natural teeth whitening ability that makes them very effective. You can mash it up and rub it on your teeth. It also makes a healthy snack. However, strawberries contain sugar and acids. So after eating a bunch of them, be sure to rinse your mouth afterwards.

These products can be used alone or be mixed together to form your own whitening concoction that you can use just like a regular toothpaste. Baking soda, for example, can be mixed with equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and a little water. Stir until you reach a consistency that is similar to your toothpaste. You can add a bit of mint too just to make it taste better.

Having a beautiful set of ivories is easy to achieve if you know the right things to use. You need not spend a fortune on laser teeth whitening or take painful dreary trips to the dentist. Feel free to make use of your own solution using these cleaning agents.

You can be creative and experiment until you find the right concoction that suits you. You must understand, however, that your teeth are naturally yellow in color because of the calcium it contains. If you brush it too hard, or use too much acid on it, your teeth surface will erode which might leave permanent damage to your pearly whites. So remember to brush regularly and use these home teeth whitening remedies once a week.

Teeth Discoloration and Teeth Whitening Solutions

According to tooth whitening Glasgow dentists, tooth whitening solutions are affordable and available to most Glasgow residents. However, only 15% of patients requiring a tooth whitening process every consider the various options available to them. This is mainly due to ignorance and misinformation. There are teeth whitening options available for all budgets and for all patient temperaments and the whitening process will always leave your teeth significantly whiter and brighter than before.

Types of Teeth Discoloration
There are two types of teeth discoloration. Extrinsic teeth stains are discoloration that are caused by external factors such as smoking, drinking and aging. The dirt or discoloration is on the teeth enamel. This means that the original tooth is okay and with removal of the dirt, the teeth should be back to normal. If the extrinsic stains are mild, you can remove them by simple dental processes such as brushing your teeth or prophylactic dental cleaning. On the other hand, if the strains are strong, you may require other more forceful treatments such as teeth bleaching. If not managed in good time, the extrinsic stains can get ingrained into your teeth and thereby forming a permanent stain.

Intrinsic teeth stains are stains that form from within your teeth. Such stains can be caused by teeth being exposed to tetracycline and other related minerals especially during teeth formation. Taking a lot of fluoride in your diet also causes intrinsic stains.

Major Causes of Teeth Discoloration
There are different causes of both extrinsic and intrinsic teeth discoloration.

Age of the Patient
As one grows older, their teeth get more discolored because of the regular food stains and due to wear and tear. This is a natural aging process. However, dentists advise that proper dental hygiene will maintain your teeth color for longer. When applying the whitening solutions, it may be harder for older people to whiten their teeth as compared to younger individuals. The stains for the elderly people have been more ingrained into the teeth making it harder to remove.

Genetic traits of Your Teeth
There are also genetic discoloration traits that become more profound with age. For example, thin teeth that are more translucent get discolored much easily and it may be harder to whiten such teeth.

Eating, Drinking and Smoking Habits
There are various foods that affect the color of your teeth when taken excessively. These include cola, wines especially red wine, carrots, coffee and other strong color foods and beverages. Certain foods such as fruits with a lot of citric acid may also cause discoloration. Smoking is also a major cause of teeth discoloration.

Cracked Teeth
If your teeth are cracked because of any trauma experience, the cracks can let in dirt which will discolor your teeth in the long run.
Teeth Whitening Solutions
There are several tooth whitening solutions available to anyone with discolored teeth. The solutions used depends on the extent of the stains and the preference of the dentist and the patient.
Peroxide Gel
One solution for tooth whitening is application on Peroxide Gel. The gel may be applied by a dentist or trained technical person. During the gel application, the teeth gum must be protected by a rubber dam. The gel is applied thrice in 20 minute intervals. If the stains persist, you may need to re-apply the process.

Take-Home Whitening Kits
Take home whitening kits produce significant results when used consistently over some time. This kit has a much more dilute gel of Peroxide that can be applied at home. It is applied using a custom-made bleaching trays similar to a sportsman mouth guard. The tray remains in your teeth for about an hour.
